Beauty Finds!

Morning Friends!

Today I'm sharing a few of my recent beauty finds which I'm loving and know you will love too! I have two go-to makeup brands which I have used for years, Clinique and Mac. Both these brands have terrific foundations for all skin types and a huge range of product.

Although I have been faithful to these brands for many years,  I'm constantly being recommended other products by friends, my sisters and you guys! Thus my makeup collection tends to be a mix of  brands, some hits and some misses. But hey, its all trial and error right?!

I rotate between two mascaras at the moment.

They're Real - Benefit

 False Lashes, Waterproof - Mac

Why do I have two? Because they are both awesome and I can't pick a favourite ;)

Peach Blossom - Mac. The perfect soft summer colour!

Prep and Prime Fix - Mac. A lightweight primer that helps refreshen skin and finish makeup

Coconut Watercolour Eye Shadow - Josie Maran

So there you have it, just a few of my recent beauty finds. Please keep those recommendations coming, you guys always have great tips and tricks :)

Have a wonderful day everyone!

Friday Favourites

Happy Friday Friends!

This week has been lovely and quite but incredibly hot! Is it possible to be over Summer before it has begun? But before I just in the pool lets talk Friday favourites from the past week!

One

It may only be November but Summer has officially arrived. Air-conditioning, sun burns and beach trips - Tis the season! It is hot as anything here but that being said, it makes for a great excuse to run away to the beach for the weekend!

Two

Oh my goodness, The Fall! Has anyone seen this show?? I won't give too much away but it is brilliant. Violent and at times frightening, its not at all my usual TV preference but it sure is addictive. You can find all the episodes on Netflix, prepare to become addicted!

Three

Yesterday I shared the recipe to this sweet confetti celebration cake. If you have someone special birthday coming up or simply looking for something fun then check out the recipe here.

Four

I'm a sucker for Erin Condren goodies, so I was pretty chuffed to greet a big box of christmas presents I ordered a few weeks ago. I have said it a hundred times and I'll say it again, Erin Condren has fantastic products that are beautiful, practical and well made! Love love love!

Five

Finally, no matter your political preferences this quote is relevant, important and speaks so much truth.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Confetti Birthday Cake

Happy Thursday Friends!

Todays recipe is a new one for me and quickly becoming a fan favourite. I made this cake yesterday for a friends birthday just yesterday and love it! This is the perfect celebration cake or treat!

You Will Need
1 stick butter (8 tbs)
2 cups sugar
2 3/4 cups plain flour
1 cup milk
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 vegetable oil
5 eggs, room temperature
1 Tbs vanilla extract
3 Tbs sprinkles

Icing
1 1/2 sticks butter
3 cups icing sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup milk

Method

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Butter the bottoms and sides of two 9-inch round cake pans; grease with baking spray.

Whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl; set aside.

Beat the butter, granulated sugar and oil in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium-high speed until light in color and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Beat in the eggs 1 at a time, then beat in the vanilla until combined.

Alternate folding the flour mixture and milk into the batter with a spatula, adding the flour in 3 additions and the milk in 2, starting and ending with the flour. Add the sprinkles and gently fold through.

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.

Bake the cakes on the same oven rack, rotating the pans about halfway if they seem to be browning unevenly, until golden on top and the centers spring back to the touch, 35 to 40 minutes. Let cool in the pans about 10 minutes, then turn out onto cooling racks and let cool completely.

For the frosting: While the cakes cool, beat the butter  in a large bowl with an electric mixer on medium speed until smooth. Gradually beat in the confectioners' sugar. Once it's all been added, increase the speed to medium high and beat until white and fluffy. Beat in the vanilla until blended. Add 2 tablespoons of the milk and beat to incorporate. Beat in the remaining milk 1 tablespoon at a time (the frosting will be spreadable but not runny).

To assemble: Place 1 cake layer right-side up on a cake plate or stand and spread with 1 cup of the frosting. Top with the second cake layer. Frost the top of the cake with the remaining frosting. Decorate the top with additional sprinkles.

Enjoy!

Attention Sydney Go-ers

Morning Friends!

Over this past (very busy weekend) a few girlfriends and I decided to plan an impromptu girls getaway to Sydney! The three of us have been friends since primary school and now all live in different states, so cordinating three days away is a mighty effort.

But its happening and in only two weeks eekk! Although I spent a whole lot of my childhood in this gorgeous city, i'm always looking for new and exciting things to see, do and eat when in town so please share your recommendations with me!

I can't wait for a mini break, but until then its business as usual.
Have a fantastic day friends!
